Melvin I Schell

Melvin I. Schell, age 85, the quiet and guiding rock of his family, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. Mel was a charter member of St Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church, and also a member of the 50/50 Euchre Club at St Cecilia Catholic Church. He was the longtime office manager at Fruehauf Trailer Corporation as well an employee at Bishop Ready High School. Preceded in death by: Wife: Leona. Son: Mark. Brother: Denver. Survived by: Children: Mary Jo Schell, Joyce (Rick) Brown, Diana Schell, Brian (Katie) Schell and Allan (Rhonda) Schell. 17 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren. Sister: Barb (Smitty) Smithberger. Brothers: Ronald (Rose) Schell and Fred (Carol) Schell. Numerous other family and friends. There will be a gathering of friends at Jerry Spears Funeral Home with Crematory, 2693 W. Broad St., Friday, 4-8 PM. Funeral Mass, 11:00 AM Saturday at St Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church, 4131 Clime Rd. In lieu of flowers, family asks that donations be made to the Mark Schell Memorial Endowed Scholarship at John Carroll University, 1 John Carroll Blvd, University Heights, OH, 44118.
