Betty J. Smith, age 82, of Columbus passed away Wednesday November 4, 2009. Betty was retired from Harts and she was a member of Briggs Rd Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband Carl Smith. Survived by sons; Gary (Marsha) Smith and Craig (Carole) Smith; brother; William (Shirley) Craig; sisters Patty (Gil) Garris of Belfry Kentucky and Peggy (Bill) Schartz. Grandsons; Mathew (Danielle) Smith, Brad (Jenni) Smith, Derek Smith; granddaughter Jennifer Smith Delong; great grandsons Josh Delong and Nicholas Smith; Nieces Sue Craig and Kristina (Mark) Helton nephew Nathan Helton of Kentucky. Family will receive friends Friday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Jerry Spears Funeral Home with Crematory 2693 W. Broad St. Funeral Service Saturday at 2:00 P.M. With Pastors Mark Helton and Rev. Dr. Ron Hopkins officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Hospice C/O Mount Carmel Foundation 793 West State Street Columbus, Ohio 43222-9988.
