Michael "Fuzz" Mercurio

Michael Joseph "Fuzz" Mercurio, age 61, passed away suddenly, on Monday, June 1, 2015 while playing the 9th hole with his close friends at Homestead Springs Golf Course. 1972 Graduate Bishop Ready High School which went on to become his second home, as he was employed there most of his adult life. A highly successful 25 + year coach, in both softball, helping lead the girls to a 1995 state championship, and serving as a freshman, junior varsity and varsity coach in boys basketball. He also coached sports at St. Mary Magdalene for many years as well, helping to mold some of the many athletes that went on to Bishop Ready. Fuzz was an avid golfer and loved spending time with his family and friends. Preceded in death by: Father: Joe Mercurio. Brother: Phil "Bud" Mercurio. Survived by: Children: Tony (Michele) Mercurio and Amy (Bryan) Minnehan. Grandchildren: Kaden, Kyleigh, Maden, Brook and Trey. Mother: Wanetta Mercurio. Stepbrother: Brian Haag. Aunt: Mary (Charles Stephens) Swartz. Numerous other family and friends. Friends may call at Bishop Ready High School, 707 Salisbury Rd., Thursday, 4-8 PM. Funeral Mass, 10:30 AM Friday at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 473 S. Roys Ave. Father Stanley Benecki, Celebrant. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
