Juanita Mae Thompson

Juanita Mae Thompson, 83, of Columbus, died peacefully Wednesday, December 2, 2015. She was with her daughter and one of four sisters at the time she joined her husband in Heaven.

She was born to the late Ralph and Alta Kettell on July 2, 1932, in Columbus, Ohio. Juanita was the oldest of five siblings. Reta (Don) McGeehan, Joann (Jim) Mann, Nancy (Bill) Boggess, Bonnie (Joe) Weiner, and Eddie (Bonnie) Kettell.

She attended Central High School. Juanita married the late Cecil "Tommy" Thompson in 1950. They lived a beautiful life of love and respect. They were blessed with two children, Debbie Ann and Thomas Allan.

Juanita worked as a homemaker her whole life, raising her children and taking care of the family home. She loved shopping, spending time with her siblings, helping raise her granddaughters and most recently having her lap dog, Sammy, not leave her side.

Juanita is preceded in death by her beloved mother, father, husband, son, sister, and brothers-in-law. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Bates, of Columbus, granddaughters Traci Summers, of Grove City and Lori Bates, of Mason, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews. Lastly, Juanita is survived by her most precious gift of all, her eight year old great granddaughter, Ava Mae Summers.

In lieu of flowers, our family is asking that you hug your loved ones a little tighter today because life is short. Make every moment count.

A chapel service will be held in the mausoleum at Sunset Cemetery, 6959 West Broad Street, Galloway, Ohio 43119, for those who are able to attend at 11am December 12, 2015. Services by Jerry Spears Funeral Home and Crematory.
