Betty Irene Dunfee Cline Ehman, age 89, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2011. She was born on October 22, 1921 in McConnellsville, Ohio to the late Hibbard and Lida Shattuck Dunfee, was reared in Washington County and graduated from high school in Belpre in 1938. Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Donald R. Ehman, son David Michael Ehman, first husband Elbert E. Cline, brother Leighton F. Dunfee, and grandson David Scott Ehman. She is survived by sister Juhl M. Dill of Tampa, FL; children Donald R. Ehman Jr. (Deborah) of Fairfield, CT and Alice Marie Kemper (Chuck) of Canal Winchester; grandchildren Michael Scott Kemper (Maureen), Anne Marie Smith (Sheridan), Joshua R. Ehman; great-grandchildren Allana Mathews, Jack Jones, Jacob Kemper, and Haley Kemper; many nieces and nephews; and many close friends. Betty retired from Camp Fire Girls and Boys, Inc., in 1987, after more than 30 years of service, including that as a volunteer Camp fire Girls Leader for 11 years; was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church for over 65 years, where she worked with youth all her early years, including that as a Sunday School teacher and as the first acolyte mother. She loved serving the church community, holding many circle and committee offices, and participating in Bible studies. She most especially loved serving as a Stephen Minister. Her family was her first love, with church and needlework following. Her faith in God led her, drove her, and sustained her. She was a tremendous influence to her family and she will be greatly missed. Friends may call at Jerry Spears Funeral Home 2693 W. Broad St wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 P.M and then after 12:00noon Thursday at Glenwood United Methodist Church 2833 Valleyview dr where service will be held 1:00 P.M Thursday. Pastor Sharon Beattie officiating. Interment Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in her memory, to Glenwood United Methodist Church, the American Heart Association, or the Columbus Ohio Diabetes Association.
