Peter M Schmitz

Peter M. Schmitz, age 75, passed away July 17, 2023 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born 3/11/48 in Columbus, Ohio. Attended St. Agnes Elem. School, St. Thomas Aquinas High School and  graduated Bishop Ready High School 1966, studied Auto CAD drafting & Design CSCC and earned a BS Engineering Technology OSU/Franklin University. Peter designed the Police Memorial on display at the City of Columbus Police Dept with a plaque naming him as designer (quite an honor). Was employed at Schmitz Craftz, LLC 2017 to present, Industrial Nucleonics Mechanical Designer Bry-Air New Products Development Engr and ABB Company Mechanical Design Engineer Retired ABB 1977. 

"Squeezy Pete" belonged to Central Ohio Squeezebox Society He has played at Hilltop Lutheran Church, St. John's Lutheran Church Rosie's Tavern, The Keg Room, Carrie's Café Fairfield County Oktober Fest, Sr. citizen facilities throughout Columbus, various fund raisers and charitable events. "Squeezy Pete" was well known for his theme song Sentimental Journey. Member of Highland West Neighborhood Assoc. City of Cols Rec & Parks, Glenwood Rec Center, and Dodge Park Rec Center where he was a chair volleyball player. 

Preceded in death by parents Hazel and Peter, bothers John and Philip. Survived by daughter, Megan Miller (Aaron); son, Brady Schmitz (Danielle); brother, Joseph (Mary); sister, Mary Schmitz;  three grandchildren, (Judah Schmitz, Andrew Miller and Allie Miller); nieces, nephews, and 6 gal pals (Tina Higgins, Mary Bays, Judy Fultz, Cathy. Chaffin, Cathy Lewis, and Betty Riddle). Arrangements by JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY. Private Graveside service St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later time.
