Nathaniel Matthews

Nathaniel (Nathan) Isaac Matthews, age 22, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on May 1, 2020 at St. Ann’s Hospital, Westerville, Ohio with his family by his side. He was born December 22, 1997 in Columbus, Ohio. Nathaniel graduated from Olentangy Orange High School in 2016. He was a Star Scout in the Boy Scouts, played high school basketball, loved history and playing games.  Nathan had a great smile and loved to joke around and have a good time.  He loved his family very much.  Nathan had faith in Christ from an early age and though he struggled in his walk, had recently rekindled his desire to follow God.

He was preceded in death by his maternal Grandfather James McVety and paternal Grandmother Lynne Love. He is survived by his parents David and Jennifer (McVety) Matthews; Brother Jadon Matthews; Maternal Grandmother Barbara McVety; Paternal Grandfather Randall Matthews; Aunt Michele (Carl) Hutcherson; Uncles Kenny (Willie) Matthews and Bryan (Alecia) Matthews; numerous great aunts and uncles, cousins and other family members.

A closed casket graveside funeral service is scheduled for 11:30 a. m. on Thursday, May 7 at Alton Cemetery (Alton Darby Creek Rd, Galloway, OH 43119). Pastor Chris Kinner officiating.  All are welcome.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.
