Jerry G. Spears III, President of Jerry Spears Funeral Home, passed away, January 13th in Dublin, Ohio. Graduate West High School, Bullis Preparatory School, where he excelled at football and basketball, continuing at University of Nebraska where he was a proud member of the Cornhusker basketball team, Graduate Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. Past Master Westgate Lodge F & AM, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Aladdin Shrine and Northwest Shrine Club, Past Commander Columbus Power Squadron. Member Charity Newsies, Hilltop Kiwanis, Scioto Country Club, Port Clinton Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge #37, and Maennechor German Club.
Jerry loved his family, friends, family business, hunting, traveling and fishing in Lake Erie, Hawaii, and Florida. He also had a passion for flying his plane 77 Charlie. Big Jer was a big man with a kind heart, and was never one to turn away someone in need. He lived life to the fullest and was never at a loss to tell a story. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Preceded in death by, parents, Jerry and Gracebelle Spears Jr., brother, Robert Spears Sr. Survived by loving wife Marsha, Children: Marni Spears, Shannon (Ray) Della Porta, Amanda (Andy) Sheets, Bo (Tammy) Spears, Rebecca (Todd) Hinze. ‘Boom’ will be lovingly missed by his grandchildren Trace & Grayson Della Porta, Luke & Ellie Sheets, and Parker Hinze, also survived by Sister Stephanie Spears, nephews, niece, cousins and other family.
