Jerry Lee Freeman aka " Pappy”, 78, born on February 13th, 1946 passed away on August 4th, 2024.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of almost 58 years, Phyllis (Dalton) Freeman aka "Honey", daughter Melody Freeman Lain (Robert Elam), granddaughters Leeann (Adrian) Rojas, Kelsey Lain (Justin Arwood), Mackenzie Lain (Henry Diaz) and his four great-grandchildren Aracely, Sofia, Nicolas, and Julian. He was preceded in death by his father Ray, mother Flora, sisters Beverly (Richard) Wood, Sally (Jerry) Foster, Linda (Breht) Rader and brother Mark (Pat) Freeman.
He graduated from Buckeye Valley High School Class of 1964 of which he had just celebrated with other former classmates earlier this year at their 60th High School reunion. Jerry was highly active throughout his entire life and involvement in First United Brethren Church, Hilltop Kiwanis, Hilltop Business Association, Briggs High School Key Club, Boy Scouts of America/Explorers and the list could go on. Jerry was always on the go and whatever he did he was all in. He accepted everyone with an open heart, open arms, helping hands, a smile and always had a story (or three) to share.
When he wasn't coordinating the Westgate Bean Dinners, Church Events, or working in his office he would be in vacationing in Gatlinburg, Tennessee with Phyllis spending many Anniversary adventures even though they’ve been there many times it never got old. He was a collector of many things- collector of nuts and bolts for those "just incase" moments. He even had a shirt that said "If Pappy can't fix it we're all screwed!" and nothing could have been more true. He loved watching M*A*S*H, showing off pictures of his great grandchildren every chance he got, but even more he was a devoted Christian of First United Brethren of Christ for many years. We all have a Guardian Angel looking over us now.
His departure has left a deep hole in all our hearts. The family appreciates your support during this difficult time. He is now driving through the Great Smoky Mountains without any pain, with views of the mountains we can’t yet see. How beautiful that sight must be. He made an impact on many lives and will forever be missed. We love you, Pappy. XOXO
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
