James Hastings

James Edward Hastings, age 79, passed away on January 28, 2021 at the Venice Regional Bayfront Health Center, Venice, FL. Jim was a retired Columbus Firefighter. 1959 Graduate of West High School, where he excelled in football and track. Veteran United States Air Force. Member Westgate Lodge, #623, F&AM. Member Moose Lodge #11. He was an avid golfer, softball player, bowler, an Ohio State football and basketball fan and he went on to become a longtime high school football official. Preceded in death by, parents, David and Bernita Hastings, wife, Beverley Hastings, son, Michael Hastings, stepson, Gary Weethee, sisters, Karen Fellenstein and Vicki Ammon. Survived by, children, Jim Hastings and Lori Jones, granddaughter, Jordan Outhwaite, sisters, Kathy (Geno) Warner and Judy (Dan) Isel, mother of his children, Patricia Byrne, brother in law, Mike Fellenstein, numerous other family and friends. The public may call for visitation at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME, 2693 W. Broad St., on Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon. The majority, but not all of the immediate family will not be present at the public viewing. There will be a service for immediate family only at 12:30 PM Saturday, February 13, 2021. Pastor Art Minnehan officiating. Interment Sunset Cemetery.
