Dorthy Held

Dorthy Elizabeth Held, age 98, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at her residence. Dorthy was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in July 1939 and she had a good routine of faithfully serving Jehovah. Her legacy was her family, and she did a good job of instilling a strong spirituality and determination to do Jehovah's will. She was a regular pioneer as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for more than 7 years. Dorthy was an excellent cook and loved trying different recipes. She was also an avid knitter, a gardener, and an amazing puzzler. Dorthy was not a stubborn woman, she was a German woman. She will be greatly missed by everyone. Preceded in death by husband, Daniel Held, parents, Frederick and Mabel Riemenschneider, son, Stephen Held, brothers, Carl (Mildred) Riemenschneider, Floyd (Evelyn) Riemenschneider, George Irvin (Frances) Riemenschneider, sisters, Elva (Cecil) Hinton, Hazel (Maynard) Flesher, Gladys (Eugene) Hinton, grandsons, Heath and Todd Smith. Survived by daughters, Sharon (Rick) Boyer, Judy (Gary) Smith, Debi (Mark) Rice, grandchildren Seth Held, Stepheny Cashion, Jeremy Boyer, Josiah Boyer, James Boyer, Heather Heizer, Shawn Smith, Evan Smith, Sonja Tennant, Reuben Rice, Chelsea Thome, 6 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren as well as numerous other family and friends. In her final years she was well cared for by Judy and Gary Smith, as well as Heather and Jeremie Heizer. Arrangements have been taken care of by Jerry Spears Funeral Home, 2693 W Broad St. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday November 30, 2024 at the Brown Rd. Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. 1401 Brown Rd. Columbus OH 43223. The service will start at 2PM with the family accepting visitation from 1:30 until the start of the program. The service will be on Zoom at the following address 823-590-133-87. Password for zoom is 265730. A reception for all will follow.
