David Lee Eagle

David Lee Eagle entered the embrace of his savior, Jesus Christ on February 2, 2024. 

David was born on November 5, 1956 in Columbus, Ohio to Dick and Peg Eagle. David graduated from Grandview Heights High School in 1974, Ohio State University in 1979 and Indiana Wesleyan University in 2006. David married Mindy Mowrey on August 19, 1978. David and Mindy raised their family in Hilliard, Ohio where David was a teacher for 35 years. In his retirement, David opened Mighty Mick’s Gym, where he spent his time discipling and pouring into others through his love of spiritual and physical health and fitness.

David became a follower of Jesus in 1981 and pursued God with relentless dedication every day for the rest of his life. David loved to train his mind and body and was disciplined in daily study of scripture, leaving behind a treasure trove of devotional writings. David was a remarkable athlete, continuously challenging himself to defy limits, including finishing two Ironman triathlons.

David had a larger-than-life presence and was authentically who God created him to be. His wisdom, gentleness and joy drew others to him, and he invariably pointed them to Jesus. David touched countless lives as a teacher, coach, mentor, encourager, motivator, cherished friend and adored husband and father. 

David and Mindy’s marriage of over 45 years is a story of true and abiding love, exemplary in its faithfulness through many hills and valleys, that will outlast time and this temporary separation. David devoted his life to the service and protection of his wife and will be dearly, deeply missed.

David is preceded in eternity by his parents Dick and Peg Eagle, parents-in-law Marshall and Nancy Mowrey, brother Craig Eagle, and niece Kristin Minthorn. 

David is survived by his wife Mindy Eagle; his sister Beth (Bill) Beatty; his children Douglas Eagle, Amy (Lewis) Gordon, Tobin (Heidi) Eagle, Erica (Beau) Wolford and Lisa (Joseph) Ross; his nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may gather at Jerry Spears Funeral Home of Hilliard, 5471 Frazell Rd. Hilliard, OH on Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 2:00 – 6:00pm where a Celebration of Life Ceremony will begin at 6:00pm.
