Betty Lou Boyles Modlin, 88, of Ocean Springs, MS, departed this life Wednesday, September 18, 2024. Mrs. Betty was born to Hardy and Easter Marie Smith Boyles in Waynesboro, MS, on Wednesday, November 13,1935. She was a Beautician in downtown Ocean Springs for 55+ years, a loving mother and wife. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She volunteered at First Baptist Church as a first-grade Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed walking, crocheting blankets, playing cards, and a good cup of coffee with friends. She was an eager political and religious advisor.
Mrs. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Joesph L. Modlin; parents, Hardy and Easter Boyles; sisters, Jeroline Boyles and Aree Boyles; twin sister, Bonnie L. Hendry; brothers, Dennis Boyles, H.D. Boyles, Cecil Boyles, and J.D. Boyles; grandchild, Jason M. Hopkins.
Mrs. Betty is survived by her children, Randy J. Modlin (Marika), Donna L. VanCourt (Robert), Mary Ann Scarborough (Wendell); grandchildren, Maranda L. Poeun (Jason), Joseph C. Modlin, Bethany L. Janusz (Stephen), Robert B. VanCourt, Jr., Jesse B. Guy (Jenn); great-grandchildren, Wesley J. Poeun, Miles B. Poeun, Paige M. Janusz, Daphne A. Janusz, Elijah G. Guy.
The family would like to thank The Landings of Westerville Staff and Bella Care Hospice of Westerville, OH, for their care of Mrs. Betty.

A Christian burial Service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 11am at First Baptist Church in Ocean Springs. Friends may visit from 10am until service time. Interment will follow in Bellande Cemetery, Ocean Springs. Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, Porter Avenue, Ocean Springs, is responsible for arrangements.
