Albert Tanner Moraine, Jr., age 82, passed on to eternal life while surrounded by family the morning of March 18, 2023 from complications related to diabetes and heart failure. Al was born June 19, 1940, in Columbus, Ohio to Mary Elizabeth (Hennessy) and Albert Tanner Moraine Sr. Al grew up on the Hilltop, attended St. Aloysius Elementary School and graduated from Aquinas High School Class of 1958. Al had many occupations throughout his early life including paper carrier, meat cutter, custodian, and mechanic. Al worked several years for Smith Transfer, Franklin County Clerk of Courts, and then as an independent contractor for The Columbus Dispatch Printing Co. from which he retired in 2002 after many years of service. Al enjoyed playing cards with his buddies and had a life-long passion for hunting, fishing, and his beloved Darby Creek. Al was a former member of The Shamrock Club of Columbus and Knights of Columbus Council 2898. In addition to his parents, Al is preceded in death by his daughter Michelle Ann, sisters Mary Ann D’Ippolito (Guido) and Sheila Schmitt. Survivors include his former wife, Barbara (Lamb) Butts, his 5 children Robert Moraine (Charles Smith), David Moraine (Julie), Coleen Moraine-Thomas (Tess), Laura Vance (Rob), and Michael Moraine (George d’Adhemar); 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; sister Kathleen Moraine and brother-in-law William Schmitt and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 24, 10:30 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2400 Red Rock Blvd., Grove City. Interment immediately following at St. Joseph Cemetery (St. Peter Section), 6440 S. High St., Lockbourne. Friends and family are invited to a luncheon at the church at 1:00 pm where the family will receive guests. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Al’s memory. Arrangements entrusted to JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME, 2693 West Broad St.
