Stephen Strayer

Stephen (Stevie) William Strayer, born April 29, 1964, passed away October 12, 2024 at OhioHealth Kobacker House, age 60. 

Steve retired from Plumbers & PIpefitters Local Union 189 - Columbus, OH.  Steve will be remembered for his strong work ethic in his HVAC career, where he was well respected for his extraordinary work results and wisdom.  During his time working HVAC he was introduced to his close friends Dwight Gammell and Pat Dalton. Steve enjoyed spending time with friends, including his childhood friend Johnny Happ. Steve was known for his generosity, and his humorous and sarcastic personality. Steve prepared many homemade ravioli and wedding soup dishes to share at holidays with his family, passed down from his late grandmother’s recipes.  

Preceded in death by parents, Charles and Gloria Strayer. Survived by son: Michael Strayer, and his mother Christina and his brother Niko; brother and sister: Charles Strayer Jr., and Mary Jo (Robert Salyers) Strayer; niece and nephews: Barry Strayer, Kayla (Geordan) Doup, and Corey Strayer; and great-nephew: Caleb Doup. 

Friends may call at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME OF HILLIARD, 5471 Frazell Rd. on Tuesday October 15th from 5-7pm.  Graveside service and entombment, 10:30 AM Wednesday at St. Joseph Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, donations in Steve’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
