Robert Lehotsky Obituary

Robert James Lehotsky (Jim) of Powell, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025 at the age of 85.

Jim was born on August 22, 1940 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of John and Mary (Klimek) Lehotsky and was a proud community member of North Jackson, Ohio for 70 years.

Upon graduation from Jackson-Milton High School, he joined the Army and served in auto maintenance at Fort Knox, Kentucky. After being honorably discharged in 1959, Jim became a truck driver and farmer.

Jim saw Sandra Holmes and knew that she was the one for him. They were married on September 5, 1970 at First Baptist Church of McDonald, Ohio and had just marked their 55th wedding anniversary. Jim and Sandy’s two children Jason and Jeremy added to their life full of laughter, pranks, and fond memories.

Jim worked as a truck driver and dock handler for White Star, ABF Freight and Preston Trucking.  Due to his extensive experience in the trucking industry, he could give you driving directions to almost any place in Ohio.

Farming was Jim’s primary hobby.  He loved working with animals and growing crops.  He will be remembered for his love of his favorite tractor, the John Deere 4020.  Jim was also an avid gardener and cook.  When he wasn’t caring for his raspberries, he made chicken soup with haluski in the kitchen.  Only his mom’s kolache was better.

While living in North Jackson, Jim was a member of Bailey Road Baptist Church and served as a Deacon, Trustee, and Mission Treasurer. Upon moving to Powell, he attended Dublin Baptist Church.

Jim will always be remembered for his ability to talk to almost anyone at any time.  He was always quick with a joke and willing to share a story about farming and trucking with anyone who would listen. He also enjoyed putting together a good puzzle.

Remaining to cherish Jim’s memory are his spouse, Sandy Lehotsky; two children, Jason (Amy) and Jeremy Lehotsky; beloved grandchildren, Avery and Reed; and sister, Ruth.

Preceding Jim in death are his brothers and sisters, Richard (Dick), Elmer, Dorothy, and William (Bill); his father and mother, John and Mary.
