Norma K. Cruikshank Maurey, known as a loving mom, daughter, sister, Maw Maw, wife, and friend, passed peacefully at her home in Grove City, Ohio, on November 13, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on March 23, 1941, to Ruth Eleanor and Jack Cruikshank, Norma lived a life rooted in faith, service, and unconditional love.
A graduate of West Virginia University–Parkersburg, Class of 1983, Norma earned her teaching degree and dedicated her life to helping children learn and grow. She taught, tutored, mentored, and encouraged young people of all ages. Her gift for nurturing others extended into her church, where she served joyfully—sewing quilts for NICU babies and cancer patients, supporting ministries, and offering help wherever it was needed.
Norma is survived by her siblings Donna (Donald) Miller, Earl (Kathy) Cruikshank, and Jack (Judy) Cruikshank, along with many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
She was the proud mother of a large and loving blended family. She is survived by the children of her late husband Jon Steele—Debbie, Deanna, Bruce, BJ, Brett, and Brad—and by the children of her late husband Jerry—Gary and Jerry. She is also preceded in death by one of Jerry’s sons.
Norma was blessed with many grandchildren, including Devin, Lauran, Dustin, Maddy, Trenton, Kenidee, Ethan, Julian Brandon, and Steven. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, including Ryann, Milo, her soon-to-be-born great-grandchild Nora, the great-grandchildren of Jerry’s late son, and the little ones welcomed by Dustin, Maddy, and others throughout the family. There are many great-grandchildren not individually listed, each one held dearly in her heart. As “Maw Maw, Mal Mal and Grammy" Norma shared lessons of faith, kindness, hard work, and unconditional love—shaping generations in ways that will never be forgotten.
Norma also leaves behind dear friends who became family, including her best friend Kim Knipp, and Mike & Vicki Lape, whose children she embraced as her own. She had far too many friends to name, a true testament to the countless lives she touched through her generosity and warm spirit.
Her family finds comfort knowing she is now at rest. Norma’s legacy of love, guidance, and gentle strength will live on in every heart she touched.
Family will receive from November 24 from 2-4 at Redeemer West Church, 2199 Holt Road, Grove City, OH 43123, memorial service to follow at 4pm.
