Michael Parke

Michael Edward Parke, age 71, of Hilliard, OH., passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Riverside Methodist Hospital.

Our dearest and loving Michael was an incredible husband and father and a truly wonderful person to those who were blessed in knowing him.

Growing up in Humboldt county, California, in his adolescence he spent a lot of time playing in the redwood forests and at the beach. Michael was a very caring person, and a brilliant student, researcher and academic. He received his doctorate in Physical Oceanography from the University of California San Diego; worked doing research at the Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL). He later worked at the Center of Oceanography in the University of Colorado located in Boulder and taught at the Ohio State University where he spent the last 24 years. In particular his time at OSU was very special to him. He was passionate about teaching and helping his students succeed and made his courses fun and enriching. He worked closely with a number of teaching assistants over the years, who he supported and encouraged in their academic careers. We are so proud of his accomplishments.

Aside from his achievements in his career, the most important of all was his family who he loved very dearly. He was a loving husband to his wife Diana and a remarkable father to his children, Katrusia and Ernie. He was a caring son to his parents, Barbara and Charles, an attentive son to his mother-in-law, Kateryna, and a dear brother of his siblings, David and Mary. He also helped those in need, supporting charities and families in Ukraine.

We are so blessed to have had him in our lives. We love and miss him so much!
