Melody Kimbler, 65, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of the family she cherished so deeply. Born on July 3, 1960, in Columbus, Melody spent her life doing what she loved most: caring for others.
For many years, Melody worked as an in home childcare provider, but to the countless children who came through her doors, she was much more than a babysitter. She treated every child as if they were her own and made everyone feel welcome, loved, fed, and safe. Her home was never just a house. It was a gathering place with an open door where family, friends, neighbors, and children always knew they belonged.
Melody was a strong woman and a fighter through life’s hardships, meeting challenges with resilience, humor, and love. Her greatest accomplishment and deepest pride were her four daughters, Maurica (David), Melissa (Kevin), Ericka, and Ashley. She also leaves behind seven beloved grandchildren, Kaitlynn (Jamie), Hannah (Kenny), Gavin, Stevie, Colin, Zach, Cohen and Colton; Two precious great grandchildren, Gracelynn and Kinslee; her brother, Jason Thacker; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Ellen Daniels; her mother, Diana Thacker; her sisters, Dawn Dover and Bridgette Adams; her brother, Tracy Dover; her special “brother,” Scottie; and her nieces, Mindy Broughton and Brooke Dover.
