Marie A Wilmer, born April 15th, 1943, affectionately known as Sis and her chosen name Sister Bonaventure, passed away peacefully on April 20th, 2023. A lifelong resident of Pittsburgh, PA, she was born in Glenshaw, PA where she attended Shaler High School. She then entered the Divine Providence Convent to be a nun and teacher. After leaving the convent, she became a manager within Self-Funded Plans, a recruiting agency in Pittsburgh.
Marie enjoyed many things in life including dogs, gardening, and her church. She had 2 beloved collies and grew many delicious vegetables over the years. She was a devout attendee of Ruthfred Lutheran Church in Bethel Park, PA where she felt at home and made many friends. Being a Pittsburgh native, she was an avid fan of the Penguins and Steelers. She attended many Penguin games and frequently spoke about the success of the Steelers. She was a devoted fan of “Big Ben” Roethlisberger and always had a Terrible Towel nearby.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Agnes Tessmer, and is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Linda Tessmer, her nieces and nephews, Lisa (Greg) Desautels, Tracie Belmont, Kevin (Meredith) Tessmer, and Erik (Natalie) Tessmer. She is also survived by her numerous great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, many cousins, and wonderful friends.
