Margaret Norris

Margaret L. Norris, age 81, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025 in Sidney, OH.

She loved going to the senior center and playing cards with her friends as well as making crafts and selling candies. The annual trip to the Ohio State Fair was something she always looked forward to as she grew tomatoes with her husband and entered them in the contest and was proud of the ribbons they won. She also loved to travel and went to England with her husband and California to visit her sister and family and enjoyed Disneyland and going to see the Price is Right along with going to the beach. She and Bud also enjoyed going to car shows and train rides and hot air balloon rides. Another interest was couponing and donating loads of food to the local food bank. Always helping others, she supported many children in Haiti over the years and donated to Children’s Hospital. Walks in the park, trips to the zoo and river boat rides brought her relaxation. Additionally, she loved gardening, photography and genealogy and family reunions, and of course, spending time with family. She was the most loving, giving person you could ever know. She loved God, her husband and her family.

Preceded in death by mother, Margaret Schaffner; father, Leotis Ralph Mees; stepfather, Carl Schaffner and brothers: Roger Lynn Schaffner, Carl Ray “Corky” Schaffner and Bruce Eugene Schaffner.

Survived by husband, Merle “Bud” Norris; sisters: Mary Scarbrough, Gloria Schaffner, Connie Bemus and Kathy Wright; brothers: Leotis “Pete” Mees, Gary L. Mees, Dennis Michael Schaffner, Mike Mees and John Henry Mees; many cousins, nieces and nephews that loved her very much.

Friends may call at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME, 2693 W. Broad St., Friday, August 29, 2025 from 11-1 PM where service will follow at 1 PM. Interment Kingwood Cemetery.
