Lloyd Vincent Murphy, age 98, passed away at Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House, Ormond Beach, FL, on January 26, 2026. He was born, August 16, 1927 in Columbus, Ohio to his late parents, Karl Patrick and Bertha Lorene Murphy.
Lloyd discovered photography early in life under the guidance of his father, Karl, who taught him the art and discipline of the craft that would shape his future. He went on to become a highly respected professional photographer, spending nearly 30 years, capturing celebrities, musicians, and U.S. presidents on Miami Beach. From Frank Sinatra and The Beatles to John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan, his work placed him among icons of entertainment, sports, and politics, but what mattered most to him was the connections he built with people. As his career evolved, Lloyd brought that same eye for detail and respect for people into new endeavors, including consulting for and liquidating major American companies such as American Express, Advent Health, Wackenhut Security, and numerous national banks.
Beyond his professional success, Lloyd was known for his wisdom and generosity with his time. He mentored countless individuals younger and older than himself, many of whom credit him for helping shape them into better people through his guidance, patience, and friendship. He also never lost his sense of fun. He called himself “The Kid” and he lived that way. Whether he was playing Monopoly, or eating ice cream and caramel corn instead of vegetables, his joy was contagious, and time spent with him was always filled with laughter.
Lloyd is survived by his devoted partner of 40 years Carol Lynn Bari, his daughter Patricia Duncan and her husband Ron, and his son Steven Murphy and his wife Mirna. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jeff Duncan and his wife Missy, Ron Duncan II and his wife Vicki, Heather Duncan Miller and her husband Mike, Ryan Murphy and his wife Jenny, and Matthew Murphy, along with 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents Karl and Bertha, his sister Phyllis Murphy Seymour, and his son Lloyd Murphy, Jr.
Lloyd will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio at 1 p.m., Monday, February 9, 2026.
He will be remembered as a gifted artist, a trusted mentor, a devoted father and grandfather, and a man whose influence continues through the many lives he touched.
