Jon Mitton Obituary

Jon Ernest Mitton, age 69, of Prairie Township, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2026. Jon was born June 10, 1957 in Beckley, West Virginia. He graduated from Westland High School in 1975. Go Cougars! Jon was a lifelong Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns fan. His favorite time of the year was football season. His only regret in life was having to stop golfing due to his health. Jon loved to talk about his survey work, especially on the O’Shaughnessy Bridge (1989) and the Broad Street Bridge (1992). Jon had an infinite love for all dogs. Jon met the love of his life, Linda Mollett, in 1994, they married in 1999. Jon is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Merlin Mitton; brothers-in-law, Col. Jerry Draper and William Mollett Jr.; furbabies: Buckeye, Molly, Curly and Scarlet.

Jon his survived by his loving wife Linda; beloved dogs, Daisy May and Doobie Joe; sisters: Ellen “SuSu” Mitton and Linda Draper; brother, Jeff (Jackie) Mitton; sisters and brothers-in-law; Connie Griffin, Tammy Aldridge, Barb Burkhammer, Jeff Mollett, Ken (Cheri) Mollett, Mike (Cathy) Mollett; nieces and nephews: Lori Cremeans, Ryan Campbell, Mike (Melinda) Draper, Lisa (Vikki Talanca) Draper, Mary (Daniel) Sanchez, Tommy (Bailey) Mitton, Max Draper, Ryan Campbell, Terri Pierce, Dan (Jules) Griffin, Rena (Michael) Hudson, Eddie Mollett, Chelsea Mollett, Chris (Amber) Jones, Misty (Nick) Jones, Curtis (Kayla) Aldridge, Nicole (Josh) Horn, Mitch Miller, Michael Zindler, Stephen Zindler, Laura Zindler, Bobby Pierce, Kevin (Kara) Pierce, Seymour Pierce, Kanyon Pierce, Roger (Betsy) Aldridge and a multitude of great nieces and great nephews along with may special friends.

Visitation and Remembrance service times to be announced. Following the service, cremation will take place.
