John Davis Sr. Obituary

John Logan Davis Sr., born June 11, 1937 in Hilltop U.S.A., passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at his residence. He was a 1955 Graduate of West High School. Veteran U.S Army, serving in the 3rd Infantry Division and he was awarded the EIB in 1960. Member Amvets #1928 and Agonis Club. John was one of seven original founders in 1963 of Capital Fire Protection, serving as President from 1985-2003, before retiring after 40 years of service. Preceded in death by: Brother: David P. Davis. Parents: John W. and Florence Davis. Survived by: Children: John L. (Alice) Davis Jr. and Jacqueline Davis. Grandchildren: John "JM", Jack and Jane. Brother: Albert C. Davis. Loving partner: Darlene Bishop. Numerous other family and friends. John's words to his grandkids: JM – remember, Davises don’t give up. Never. You’ve come a long way – keep going. Keep striving, even when it seems too hard. Jack – like your brother and sister, you are very talented and smart. Use your talents to their fullest. And when you think you’ve done enough – do more. Jane – You’ve always brought me so much joy. Don’t let anyone ever tell you that you can’t do it. You have Davis girl power. Friends may call at Jerry Spears Funeral Home with Crematory, 2693 W. Broad St., Sunday, December 23, 2018 from 12-2pm, where service will follow at 2pm. Immediately following calling hours at the funeral home, there will be a celebration of John's life at Emelio's Restaurant, 574 Georgesville Rd. Private inurnment at a later date at Alton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West High School Alumni Association, PO Box, 28056, Columbus, OH, 43228 or The American Cancer Society, 5555 Frantz Road, Dublin, OH 43017, in John's name.
