James Yates Jr

James Yates Jr, 59, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at his residence. He was born on September 17, 1965, in Columbus, Ohio. James was an easy-going and great guy to be around, who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

James is survived by his daughter, Crystal (Josh) Lyons, his mother, Patricia Wimer, his sisters, Susie Messer and Judy Smiar, his brothers Allen Yates and Patchey (Areil) Yates, his granddaughter, Jimma Jarrell, his grandson, Jameson Lyons, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Yates, his stepfather, Terry (Cherokee)Wimer, his brothers, Elton Ray and Jerry Yates.

In his free time, James enjoyed playing softball and coaching sports. He had a passion for helping others and loved sharing his knowledge and skills with aspiring athletes.

A memorial service will be held to honor James's life and the impact he had on those around him. Please join us in celebrating James's life and remembering the joy and love he brought to our lives.
