James Welch

James Welch, age 89, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024 at Grant Medical Center. Retired from Columbus City Schools - OAPSE. Jim was an avid sports fan. He loved the Buckeyes, the Yankees, NASCAR and Golf. His biggest joy was watching his grandchildren participate in their sports. Preceded in death by, parents, William Holden and Dorothy, dear wife, Shirley, daughter, Zondra, sister, Patricia, son-in-law, Robert and beloved grandson, Douglas. Survived by, son, Jimmy (Celeste), daughters and caregivers, Kim Fridenmaker and Bridget (Sean) Martin, grandchildren, Jennifer (Rex), Rachel (Brandon), Benjamin, Amanda, Zachary, Nicholas, Jordan (Brittany) and Evan, great grandchildren, Tori, Alex, Gabe, Bella, Hunter, Finn, Sophie, Jaxson, Wyatt, Layne, Kennedy and Max. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the nurses on the 7th floor at Grant Medical Center for caring for our dad...special thanks to Porsha and Zoey for your kindness and compassion you extended to dad and his family...you are the best of the best and an example for all to follow.

At the request of the family, there will be no services and a private family burial. Arrangements have been completed with JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME, 2693 W. Broad St.
