James Reed

James Carlton Reed, age 92, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Columbus West Park.  He was born on August 21, 1933 in the old village of Gahanna. Survived by, wife, Nancy Lou Jackson Miller Reed, daughter, Debra Evans, stepsons, Richard (Jayne) Miller, Terry (Della) Miller, Kevin (Tish) Miller, Brian (Catherine) Miller, step daughter, Tamara Miller (Jeff) Barnhill, eleven grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, sister, Carol Puchovich, cousin, Shirley Hight. Preceded in death by, parents, James C. Reed and Esther Heise Reed, sister, Betty Jean Guffey.

He attended Gahanna Lincoln High School, graduating in the class of 1951. James was a member of Saint Cecilia Catholic Church where he was a lector and hospitality and eucharistic minister. He served in the US Army in Korea and Germany. Employed as Chief of Gas Pipeline Safety for The State of Ohio, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Capital City Lodge #656, F&AM, where he was a past master. He also belonged to numerous other masonic bodies.

Friends may call at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME of HILLIARD, 5471 Frazell Rd., Monday, October 20, 2025 from 4-7 PM. Funeral Mass, 10 AM Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Saint Cecilia Catholic Church, 434 Norton Rd. Father Thomas Buffer, Celebrant. Inurnment Saint Joseph Cemetery, at a later date.
