James Herrel

James Richard Herrel of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025. Jim was born December 9, 1945. He is preceded in death by his parents: Maxine and Richard, brother, Mike,  sister, Gloria and grandchild, Jessica. Survived by his children: Charla (Rick) LaRosa, Gary Meyer, Greg (Patti) Herrel and Tina (Tony) Blakeman, grandchildren, Christina, Ryan, Jacob and Joshua, siblings, Patricia Heery, Steve (Missy) Herrel and Mark Herrel, sister in law Sam Herrel, Tom Stocker and his numerous nieces and nephews. Jim served in the U.S. Navy and worked for the Columbus City Schools for over 30 years. He loved to coach softball, harness racing, Michigan Wolverines, his red Reeboks and Trisha bear.

Family and friends can join together at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME, 2693 W. Broad St., Friday, August 1, 2025 from 4-7 PM where service will be held 9:30 AM, Saturday, August 2, 2025. Interment Sunset Cemetery.
