Dr. John Stephens Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. John (Jack) Charles Stephens, who passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024, at the age of 79. He was born on October 24, 1945, to Mary Alice Stephens and Dr. John E. Stephens.

Jack grew up alongside his siblings, Mary Joel Barnum (Todd Barnum) and Gary Eugene Stephens (Peggy Stephens), who will remember him fondly as a loving brother. He was a beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews: Chris Barnum, Nancy Matre, Amanda Nierzwicki, Jeffrey Stephens, and Shawn Stephens.

Jack was a proud graduate of Aquinas High School, Class of 1963. Immediately after high school, he entered the United States Air Force and served his country with distinction during the Vietnam War. After completing his military service, he earned his undergraduate degree in 1967 from Ohio Dominican College, where he studied the sciences. He continued his education at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree. John dedicated much of his life to medicine as a podiatrist, sharing his expertise and passion for helping others. His career was diverse and impactful—he worked with the FBI on medical malpractice cases, served as a team physician for the Columbus Clippers, and even applied his analytical skills as a tax consultant for H&R Block.

Beyond his professional achievements, Jack enjoyed an active life. A member of Tartan Fields, he was an avid golfer who relished time spent on the course. He also found joy in skiing and valued moments of camaraderie and competition that these pursuits brought him.

Jack will be remembered for his unwavering faith, dedication, and strong work ethic. Whether in his professional life, personal relationships, or time spent serving his community and country, he approached every endeavor with integrity and purpose. His steadfast faith served as a guiding light throughout his life and inspired those who knew him.

Dr. Jack Charles Stephens leaves behind a legacy of service, kindness, and dedication. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

A celebration of Jack’s life will be held in the spring, with details to be announced at a later date.
