Douglas Kent Eagle
7/25/1980 – 11/16/2025
Douglas Eagle stepped into eternal freedom in the presence of Jesus on November 16, 2025.
Doug was born to David and Mindy Eagle in Grandview Heights, Ohio and grew up in Hilliard, Ohio. The oldest of five, he was the ringleader of fun, laughter and mischief. He loved sports and daredevil stunts, occasionally to his peril.
Doug graduated from Hilliard High School in 1998, where he was known for his school spirit, athleticism, and charisma.
Doug served in the United States Navy from 2001 – 2007, where he excelled due to his fearlessness and natural inclination for the water. He served as a helicopter rescue swimmer and combat door gunner with HS-11 Dragonslayers, with three deployments aboard the USS Enterprise in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
After serving his country, Doug graduated from the University of North Florida in 2009 with a degree in Anthropology/Archaeology, and in 2013 completed his master’s degree in Special Education at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. He had a heart for special needs students and enjoyed his teaching career from 2013 – 2018.
Doug had a truly dizzying intellect, was a gifted learner, a dreamer, clever, loved history, poetry, travel, and art. He read broadly and devoured books about history, baseball and Christian faith.
Generosity was Doug’s love language, and he found joy in giving gifts to his nieces and nephews, taking care to encourage their interests. He loved giving almost as much as he loved receiving.
Despite his recent battles, Doug continued to stay optimistic and hopeful, maintaining his interests, friendships, and relationship with the Lord. We treasured the good days we were given, including periods of miraculous recovery which were truly a gift from God.
Doug is preceded in eternity by his dad, David Eagle, grandparents Dick and Peg Eagle and Marshall and Nancy Mowrey, uncle Craig Eagle, and cousin Kristin Minthorn. He is survived by his mom, Mindy Eagle, his brother Tobin (Heidi) Eagle, his sisters Amy (Lewis) Gordon, Erica (Beau) Wolford, and Lisa (Joseph) Ross, and his nine nieces and nephews.
“This son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and has been found.” Luke 15:24
