Cole Clark Obituary

Clark, Cole Demetri (1984 – 2018) left this world at just 33 years old after a long struggle with mental illness. “If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away” (Henry David Thoreau, Walden and Civil Disobedience, Introduction by Michael Meyer). Cole was loving and extraordinary; a passionate writer, guitarist, and music fanatic. He considered everyone he met to be his friend and would give the clothes off his back to anyone. Survived by his father, Carey D Clark; mother, Joy Willet-Larson; daughter, Ava; sisters, Amy Giannini and Rachael Groeniger; brothers, Chad Quillin, Mark Cochran, and Caleb Clark; grandparents Charlotte and Ronald Clark; grandmother, Joanne Willet; aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. To have compassion for those who suffer with mental health issues, we must first seek to understand their daily walk, as they are many times unable to adapt to the norms of others around them. Cole’s family is dedicated to the movement of understanding and acceptance of those who suffer with mental health problems. Cole resided in Columbus, OH with his loved and cherished grandparents. A life challenged with mental health difficulties, Cole is now resting in peace. His loneliness is over. His soul is free to fly with angels. His brilliant and beautiful mind has left us, but he will never be forgotten. Memorial donations to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) are appreciated: NAMI.org or NAMI 3803 N. Fairfax Drive, Suite 100 Arlington, VA 22203. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.  Arrangements completed at Jerry Spears Funeral Home with Crematory, 2693 W. Broad St.
