Charles Richard “Rick” Koogler — also known as Pops, Rick, and (by those who loved him enough to say it) “Rick the Prick” — passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the age of 75 after a long battle with health issues that finally got the last word… though Rick probably argued with it.
Born January 24, 1951, Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Koogler; his sister, Janet Glenn; and two of his children, Johnny Koogler and Jennifer Koogler Miller.
Rick attended Grove City High School, served in the United States Army as a Vietnam Veteran, and spent many years as an over-the-road truck driver before finishing his career working alongside his best friend, Jeffrey Jordan, at Madison Plumbing. He was the kind of man who could fix just about anything — and if he couldn’t, he probably knew someone who could.
He loved hunting, fishing, camping, pool, euchre, summer cookouts, and making memories with his kids and grandkids.
Rick leaves behind a large family of children, stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends who will miss his stories, his stubborn streak, his humor, and his way of showing love — usually with advice, a helping hand, or a little bit of attitude.
He was deeply loved and will be missed… though if you knew Rick, you know he’d probably tell everyone not to make too big a fuss.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced by the family.
