Bonnie Belle Kiefer Mogan, born June 14, 1924 in Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully July 31,2018 after 94 years of unstinting, unconditional love and service to those she knew. She was the gentlest of souls, and no one who knew her could help but love her.
Our mom lived and loved the world through her family. She loved music, from Benny Goodman to Ravel, but nothing rivaled the singing of her children. She loved cooking and any sort of feast, but no occasion was more satisfying than making roast beef and cherry pie for the family. She admired heartthrobs from Errol Flynn to Colin Firth, but they didn’t hold a candle to her grandsons. She was unfailingly cheerful company and would talk to anyone, but the times that pleased her most were spent with our very large family.
She was a switchboard operator at the height of WWII when she took a chance on a blind date with Army Air Corps Staff Sgt. Wayne Patrick Mogan from Circleville, OH. What followed was 74 years of love, patience, hard work, perseverance, pride and faith in the worth of family.
Mom taught us how much love can be shown with a French Silk pie, a handcrafted Barbie dress, a shared song and bridesmaid’s gowns for five weddings. When she was volunteered, without her knowledge, to make new vests for Pleasant View cheerleaders and to scrape off the “PV”s and sew Ws on the band uniforms when Westland opened , she didn’t complain and was pleased to see everyone enjoying her work.
As a grandma, Mom had an endless reservoir of attention, pride and praise.
