Becky Papp Obituary
Dorothy Rebecca “Becky” Papp, age 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on June 3rd, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Michael Papp, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth and James Hand, all of her Hand siblings, special niece Jill Jaynes, and one precious grandbaby Madison Papp. She is survived by her children, Kelly (Larry) Smith, Michael John Papp, Jr., and Shawn (Allie) Papp. Her sister-in-law, Cheryl (Greg) Mellon, and by her beloved grandchildren, Ian Savage and his son, Campbell Savage, Kaitlyn Papp, and Maren and Chloe Papp and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Becky was a lifelong westsider. She was a proud 1962 graduate of Central “COSI” High where she made lifelong friends. She cherished the times she could attend their monthly gatherings at Sports and Spirits.
Becky worked over 20 years at the original downtown Lazarus where she once “sold” a cardboard wedding cake when a real cake wasn’t available for pictures.
She followed her career at Lazarus with over 20 years at Avondale Elementary where she provided love, encouragement, and a listening ear to many students who still remember her today.
She was an all-star mother, taxi cab service, and avid sports supporter, never missing a sporting event for her children. She made sure everyone around her felt welcomed, loved and was fed!
She had a strong faith, and was a long time member of St. John’s Episcopal Church on Town Street.
In her later years she relished spending time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch and welcoming anyone who stopped by. She loved to throw parties including her Hat Party and 4th of July Party. She was much loved and will be greatly missed.
Friends may call at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME. 2693 W. Broad St., Wednesday, June 8, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM where service will be held 11 AM Thursday, June 9, 2022. Rev. LeeAnne Reat officiating. Interment Sunset Cemetery.
