Ronald McCoy Obituary

Ronald R. McCoy, age 75, passed away December 29, 2019. Born 1/23/1944.  Preceded in death by son Mark Pennington, mother Bessie Watkins, father Floyd McCoy. Survived by wife of 45 years Lynda McCoy, sons Tod (Jen) Pennington, David (Julie) Pennington, daughters Kathy (Tom) Foster, Sheri Slattery , brother George (Diane) McCoy , sister Margie Urban, niece Cindy (Phil) Epperly. Grandchildren Madison (Joe) Pennington, Tyler Vojtush, Cloe Pennington,  Mason Pennington,  Elise Golon, Brooke (Katie) Krischak, Trevor Lewis, Ryan Lewis, Ronald Radcliff and 3 great grandchildren. Ron was veteran of the U.S. Airforce.  He loved bowling (a 300 game to his credit), played a mean game of poker, had a wicked spin at the ping pong table, coached multiple championship little league baseball teams, built furniture with his own unique style and methods, could fish all night for catfish, was a great dog dad to Ruby and Tucker, had the best math skills of anyone in the family, never hesitated to lend a hand or offer advice, even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear, it was what you needed to hear. He never let a day go by without making a joke (or two, or several), continually tried to devise ways to protect the songbirds at the feeders from marauding hawks, and owned the greatest hat in the history of hats. Ron was also a two time cancer survivor.  After suffering a stroke and spending three difficult months in the hospital, Ron passed quietly in his sleep after watching the Ohio State game. Although his physical presence is no longer here, the impact he had on those he touched will last for generations to come. Private family arrangements have been handled with JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 2693 W. Broad St.  The family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Ron's name to the Delaware County Humane Society
