Sandra Deloris Drennen was born to Gordon Drennen and Eliza Harris on December 11, 1948 in Atlanta, Georgia. She was their second child. Sandra was lovingly nicknamed “Sandy” during her childhood and from then that is what she was known by family and friends.
Sandy grew up in Atlanta, Georgia until she started junior high school. They then moved to Middletown, Ohio where she graduated from Middletown High School in 1966. After graduation, she moved to Detroit, Michigan and had her first child, Amur Drennen. They lived there for a few years. She then relocated to Columbus, Ohio, where she had her daughter, LeAndrea “Nikki” Cardwell. Sandra worked for Twin Valley Hospital and retired after 30 years of service. While working there she met many lifelong friends and still spoke to them until her passing.
Sandy was the proud grandparent to Demontae`, Bra’lyne and Bella. She loved to travel and her favorite places to visit were Las Vegas, NV and Atlantic City, NJ because she loved to gamble. She would shop from sunup to sundown with her sisters, daughter, and nieces. Sandy didn’t know a stranger, once you met her, you were considered a part of her family and she treated you as such. Whether you needed a hot meal, a place to lay your head, or somewhere just to go, everyone knew Ms. Sandy’s door was always open no matter the time of day. She loved to tease people and tell jokes; she was the life of family gatherings. One of her favorite pastimes was watching football games with Amur every Saturday and Sunday. When you asked her favorite team, she would say all of them. Sandy was a family person. She made sure that all of her nieces, nephews, and both great and great grand nieces and nephews always had a gift for their birthdays and Christmas.
Sandy passed away unexpectedly on August 31, 2023, at the age of 74. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
