Ronald Lee "Ronnie" Hitchcock, age 68, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born February 2, 1953 to Thurman and Mary Hitchcock. One of six children, Ronald grew up in Paintsville, Kentucky, moving to Columbus, Ohio in 1964. Ron was known for his talent of working on anything, especially cars. He repaired many family and friends cars over the years. He was also known for his collection of license plates and his collection will be treasured for years to come. He loved reading the newspaper front to back, watching NASCAR, old westerns and the news. He was happiest in his garage or sitting around a fire enjoying a brewsky and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Ron was known as a man of few words but also known for the love of his family. He worked for Sims Office Machines and National Sign Systems in shipping and receiving most of his career. Those left to share Ron's memories are his wife of 40 years, Sheila Hitchcock, sons, Ronald (Alice) Hitchcock of Warsaw, Indiana and Jonathon Hitchcock of Columbus, Ohio, daughters, Sheri (Keith) Brown of Claypool, Indiana and Julie Pierce of Warsaw, Indiana, grandchildren, Tyler Lee Hitchcock, Latasha Ibarra, Mary Davis, Codie Pierce, Jay and Harley Shuster of Warsaw, Indiana and Madison and Kaylyn Hitchcock of Laurelville, Ohio, great grandchildren, KJ Shuster, Anthony and Ophelia Ibbarra of Warsaw, Indiana, brother, Mike Hitchcock, sister, Phyllis Sparks, sisters in law, Mary (Terry) Blizzard of Columbus, Ohio and Elizabeth (Mike) Conley of Sitka, Kentucky, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friend, Debbie Shepherd. Preceded in death by, parents, step-father, Reg Loucks, sisters, Carol Hitchcock, Diane Taynor, brother, Jimmy Hitchcock, nieces, Kimberlee Mitchell, Marianne Smith and Julie O'Conner. Special thanks go out to a group of retirees from AT&T for all of their kindness and support. Friends may call at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME, 2693 W. Broad St., Thursday, 2-4 PM.
