Michael D Green

Michael Douglas Green passed away at Kobacker House on August 27, 2021 after a short battle with esophageal cancer. He was born to Clyde and Ann (Corcoran) Green on September 13, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio.  Mike was a proud St. Francis DeSales High School Stallion, graduating in June of 1966. Enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1967, Mike served a tour of duty during the Vietnam War at Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam.

Over the course of Mike’s employment career, he worked for many employers mostly in a sales capacity. He was a loyal Buckeye fan, and depending on their season, he also supported the Browns, the Indians, the Bengals and the Reds. Mike played on many softball teams including “the Bedlam’s” where he was a “legend in his own mind”. He also loved playing golf.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Ann, his brother, Ron Green, and his sister, Diane Stone. Mike is survived by his wife, Rita; his daughters, Katelyn (Matt) Hill of Kingsland, Georgia and Kelsey (Bryce) Hotchkiss of Groveland, Florida; grandchildren, Alivia Hill, Chandler Hotchkiss, Greyson Hill, Brannigan Hotchkiss and Amelia Hill; sister-in-law, Joyce Quitadamo. Mike also leaves behind nieces, Kelly Green and Stephanie Stone, and nephews, Geoff Green and Rob Stone, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and loyal and loving friends. Also surviving are Rita’s children, Amy (Leo) Gall, Michele (Matt) Brown and Mike (Tina) Poly; in-laws Mick (Trudy) Askew, Diane (Mike) Tweed, Ruth (Buddy) Dheel, Dave Askew, Judy (Dan) Ferensen and Sue (Dave) Ranney.

Family and friends may call Friday, September 3, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY 2693 W. Broad St, Columbus, Ohio 43204. Funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home at 7:00 PM Friday evening following calling hours.  Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Union Cemetery 3349 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, Ohio 43202.
