Lee Balmert Obituary

Lee Edward Balmert, age 93, a devoted husband who loved his family, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Mt Carmel East Hospital.  He retired from Big Bear after 44 years.  A longtime and active member of St Aloysius Catholic Church. Veteran US Army. Lee was a guy who truly loved sports, especially the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the New York Yankees. Preceded in death by, parents, Albert and Kathryn Balmert, brother, Albert "Gene" Balmert, sister, Elaine " Betty" Rinehart. Survived by, loving wife of 67 years, Claire, children, Tim (Maribea) Balmert, Mark (Janice) Balmert, Mickey (Darcy Munroe) Balmert and Teri (Don) Hallowell, grandchildren, LeAnne, Steve, Matt, Grant, Jennie, Kristin, Jessie, Andy, Zach, Jake, Luke, Grace and Claire, 7 great grandchildren, numerous other family and friends.  Friends may call at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME of HILLIARD, 5471 Frazell Rd., Friday, October 1, 2021 from 5-8 PM.  Funeral Mass, 10:00 AM Saturday, October 2, 2021, at St Aloysius Catholic Church, 2165 W Broad St. Father Patrick Toner, Celebrant. Interment St Joseph Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at St Aloysius  Catholic Church Saturday morning for the service. There will be no gathering at the funeral home prior to the Funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to St Aloysius Catholic Church, 2165 W. Broad St., Columbus, OH, 43204 or request that a Mass be said in Lee's name.
