Larry Cartmell, age 83, of West Jefferson, passed away peacefully in his home July 1, 2021. He was born on March 1, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio, a son to the late Richard and Clara (O'Neal) Cartmell. Larry was a member of the National Guard and retired from the United States Postal Service after 25 years. He was a longtime member of the Southeast Conservation Club where he spent so much time camping and fishing with family and friends. He was an avid hunter and Harley Davidson rider and absolutely loved scratching lottery tickets. He had a huge kind heart, wonderful fun personality and a compassionate listening ear. That is where his many friends and "extra" extended family comes from. In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his fiance, Molly B. Carter; brother, Almon R. Cartmell and son, Ricky O. Cartmell. He is survived by daughter, Tina (James) Colter; stepson, John (Connie) Haenszel; grandchildren: Shanna Cartmell, Ryan (Jessica) Cartmell, Whitney Elkins, Tim Elkins; great grandchildren: Warran and Torianna Crawford, Ricky and Raelynn New; Everick McTeague, MacKenzie, Makayla, Haylee, Raydyn and Haizlee Cartmell; great great grandchild, Kaibriel Crawford; special niece, Debra Wright; special nephew, Shawn Cartmell; extra special family friend, Darlene Fisher and way too many friends to list. Friends may call Monday, July 12, 2021 from 9:30-11am at Jerry Spears Funeral Home, 2693 West Broad St, where service will be held at 11am, interment Sunset Cemetery.
