James Palmer

Former Columbus resident Reverend James Alan Palmer, 64, died February 1, 2020, in an automobile accident. Reverend Palmer was born November 1, 1955, in York, Pennsylvania, to John and Ruth Palmer. He moved to Ohio in 1968, where he would spend most of his life. He graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1973. Reverend Palmer spent decades preaching the gospel and serving local churches. He began his ministry as a Youth Pastor at Parma Bethel Temple, before becoming the Ohio State Youth Director for the Assemblies of God, a position he held for seven years. Together with his wife Renee, Reverend Palmer planted Capital City Church in 1990. He led that church for eighteen years, when he was selected to be the Executive Secretary for the Ohio Ministry Network of the Assemblies of God. Reverend Palmer loved sports, cheering faithfully for The Ohio State Buckeyes, and all of Cleveland’s sports teams. He also loved finding good deals and was always ready to negotiate on a car lot. He is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Renee Palmer; three sons Nathan (Lindsey), Justin, and Christian; and four grandchildren Harper, Ryder, Sawyer, and Chandler. Services will be held at Radiant Life Church, 7100 Post Road Dublin, Ohio 43016. Visitation Tuesday, February 4 -- 5 pm – 8 pm and Wednesday, February 5 -- 9 am – 11 am; Celebration of Life Service Wednesday, February 5 – 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to pick up monthly support for an Assemblies of God missionary, through your local church.
