Obituary
Gerland Hay Sr., age 94, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Danbury Senior Living surrounded by his family. Gerland was born the fifth of twelve children to Martin and Georgianna Hay. He was a proud Air Force veteran, retiring after 23 years of service. Following his military career, he worked for White's Furniture until his retirement. Gerland's passion was genealogy and his records are forever preserved with The Lawrence County Historical Society in Kentucky. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters; granddaughter, Catriona Martin and son-in-law, David Smucker. Survived by wife, Mary; children: Barbara (Ron) Gurvis, Gerland Jr., Russell (Linda), Martin and Cathy Smucker; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; brother, Frank Hay; sister, Carol Barker and other family and friends.
Friends may call at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME, 2693 W. Broad St., Tuesday, September 5, 2023 from 4-7 PM where service will be held 10 AM Wednesday, September 6, 2023. Interment Concord Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Alzheimer's Association Central Ohio Chapter, 1379 Dublin Rd., Columbus, OH, 43215.
