Florence Stokes

Florence Magdalene (DeMatteo) Stokes passed away at home surrounded by her family at the age of 80 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born February 10, 1943 in Columbus, OH to the late Mike DeMatteo Mathews and Marian (Fenner) Mathews also preceded in death by her brother Mike DeMatteo Mathews. Florence is a graduate of West High School, Class of January 1961. She worked at General Motors, her favorite job was working in the women’s clothing department at Lazarus Westland Mall. She was the CEO and cofounder of D&F Rental Properties for the last 30 years alongside her husband. She was a volunteer at Mount Carmel West for 20 years. She is a member of Holy Family Church and the Christian Mothers Club.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years Dewey and a devoted mother to their 4 children Lisa (Michael) Fallara, Carla (David) Lang, Sean (Missy) Stokes, and Julia (Todd) Grundei. Grandchildren Laken Stokes, Ashley Lang, Rachel and Vincent Fallara, Abigail Grundei, and Nicholas Franco. Great-grandchildren Caiden and Ensley Morgan. She is also survived by her sister Patricia Rhen, brother Ted DeMatteo, brother-in-laws David (Berneda) Stokes, Larry Stokes, sister-in-law Diana Mathews and many nieces and nephews.
