Raphael Thomas A. "Bubba" Raphael, born February 28, 1957, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017 in Columbus, OH. Bubba was a father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, grandfather and friend to many. He worked for the Ohio Department of Liquor Control and the Franklin County Board of Elections. Bubba graduated from Immaculate Conception Grade School 1971 and Bishop Watterson High School 1975. He was an avid Michigan fan. Preceded in death by father Thomas J. Raphael, paternal grandparents John and Catherine Raphael, maternal grandmother Elizabeth Stewart, close cousin Anthony T. Raphael, numerous aunts and uncles. Surviving Bubba are mother, Patricia L. Raphael; son, Nickolas (Amy) Raphael; daughter, Sarah Raphael; grandson, Gabriel; granddaughters, Aubrey and Harper; aunt, Helen Sarky, Cincinnati, OH; brothers, John Raphael, Craig (Mary) Raphael and Ralph (Judy) Raphael; sisters, Kimberly (Chris) Walter and Kathleen (Jeff) Smith; nephews, Jason (Melinda) Walter, Ryan (Danielle) Walter, Luke (Rachel) Raphael and Kaleb Raphael; niece, Erin (Ryan) Raphael; great-niece: Giovanna Walter; a host of cousins and other relatives; Godmother, Patricia Bryant; numerous friends over many years especially Sean Cleary, Rich Finn, Tim Weilbacher, Jerry Sullivan and The Brews Brothers Softball Team. The family would like to thank all his friends that were so supportive to him during his physical challenges. Especially the BOE employees who helped him get around and who donated extra medical time. We will be forever grateful. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Church, 414 E. N. Broadway Columbus, Ohio 43214. Family will receive friends at 2 p.m. and Mass will be held at 3 p.m. The Mercy Meal will be immediately following in the Marian Hall at the same location. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Thomas "Bubba" Raphael's name to: www.hopehollow.com/donate or to Hope Hollow, P.O. Box 141423, Columbus, Ohio 43214. Hope Hollow provides lodging, meals, comfort and hope for persons and their families traveling to Columbus for cancer treatment.
