Thomas Joseph "Tommy" Notturniano, age 71, passed away, unexpectedly, Monday, January 13, 2020 in Ormond Beach, FL He was a retired Columbus Police Officer. In his more than 34 years on the force, he worked with SWAT, Narcotics, Vice, SRB, Firearm Instruction, Dive Team, Honor Guard, taught police training at Eastland Vocational School and also served as a Sergeant with the Ashville Police . An assignment he had his last few years in a very impressive career in law enforcement was serving as a personal bodyguard to the Mayor of Columbus. A highly decorated and proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps (USMC), where he served in Vietnam, earning the National Defense service medal, Vietnamese Service Medal as well as a Good Conduct Medal, while also being a part of RECON. Member of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club, a nationwide group made up of former police officers and firefighters. Preceded in death by, mother, Ruth Notturniano. Survived by, wife, Molly (McAndrew) Notturniano, daughter, Cassie Notturniano, sister, Jody Welle, brother, Rick Notturniano, father, Rudy Notturniano, numerous other family, including the extended McAndrew family as well as many many friends.
