Mary Elizabeth Shanks

Mary Elizabeth "Betty" (Florence) Shanks, age 92, of Columbus, died November 10, 2017 at Kobacker House. She retired after 17 years from Mt. Carmel Medical Center in the Distribution Department. She was a member of Westgate United Methodist Church. She was born September 7, 1925 in Pickaway County to Henry and Altia Huffman Florence. She was a graduate of New Dover High School class of 1943. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Shanks; parents, 2 brothers, 1 half-sister, 4 half-brothers. She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl (Roger) Cline; 2 sons: Gary (Patti) Shanks, David (Connie) Shanks; 3 grandchildren: Lea (Gary) Wollam, Kevin (Erin) Minerd, Joseph (Sabrina) Shanks; 6 great-grandchildren: Nora, Jeremiah & David Wollam, Dylan & Ethan Minerd and Hailey Shanks; brother-in-law, Robert Shanks of Marysville; sisters-in-law, Mary Shanks of Marysville and Frances Florence of Bradenton, Florida; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 15 at Jerry Spears Funeral Home, Pastor Roland Moore officiating. Interment Jackson Township Cemetery in Pickaway County.
