Leontyne Jeffries

Leontyne C. Jeffries, age 88, the Queen of her family who loved everyone, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at her residence. She received her education at Wendell Phillips Academy High School, and later attended nursing school to become a surgical technician. Before she left Chicago, she worked at Mt Sinai Medical Center, and continued this work in Columbus at Grant Medical Center. A woman who accepted Christ at a very young age, she attended West Side Temple Church of God in Christ before later joining Imani Christian Church, where she still faithfully attended. Leontyne was also a longtime and loving foster parent. Preceded in death by: Parents: Leon and Louise Williams. Sister: Larrystine Haskins. Husbands: Rev. Ras Smith and Billy Jeffries. Sons: Ras Smith Jr., Ricardo Smith and Randall Smith. Grandchildren: Cheron Burford, Jacques Williams and Carla Smith. Survived by: Children: Linda D. Williams, Renard Smith, Lydia D. (Smith) Williams and Ronald J. (Lorinda)  Smith. Grandchildren: Glenda, Lana, Michole, Shauntel, Catina, Carlos, Cloteal, Renard, Rashaun, Ramahl, Erica, Julius, Darnell, LeVelle and Lamarr. Special great grandson: Lance Williams. Daughter in law: Denise Smith. A host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Friends may call at Imani Christian Church, 286 Belvidere Ave., Friday, January 4, 2019 from 11 AM-12 Noon where service will follow at 12:00 Noon Friday. Bishop Dalton Butler Jr., officiating.
