Uncle Don was one of my favorites. My mom and dad were always with him and Aunt Gygi at the campsite, playing cards and bowling. Being that they were married 60 years, it was “Don and Gygi”, so when I would go up to Uncle Don I would always say “Hi Don and Gygi”, “I love you Don and Gygi” and he would just laugh. I never realized his name was Don and my Aunt was Gygi for quite some time. I grew up thinking their names were combined ;)
And you can’t forget about calling him “Duck”. He would always sneak up behind me doing the “Donald Duck” voice and scared the heck out of me.
No matter how many years it was that my mom and dad were divorced, Uncle Don would always ask how my mom was doing.
He was such a sweet soul and nice and loving to everybody. He is definitely going to be missed.
Rest in Heaven Uncle Duck! Say Hi to Grandma Elie, Grandpa Bill, and Grandma Betty for me. You won’t be lonely up there! I love you!
