Alpheratta Small

Alpheratta J. Small, age 80, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Doctors West Hospital. She was born in Columbus, OH on December 17, 1936 to the late Charles and Mable Henkel. She graduated from South High School in 1954, moved on to work at Ranco in Columbus before a long career with the State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors, from where she retired. Alpheratta married John "Jack" Small on March 17, 1963 and they enjoyed many years together before his death in 2000. Member St Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church and Moose Lodge #11.  She  enjoyed traveling and going to casinos. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Darrel and Gene Henkel. Survived by: Sister: Audrey (David) Leonard. Sisters in law: Bonnie and Lili Henkel. Numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Friends may call at Jerry Spears Funeral Home, 2693 W. Broad St., Sunday, 2-5 PM where service will be held 10:00 AM Monday. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
