Allen Schilling

Allen R. Schilling, age 89, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017 at his residence. Retired Columbus Police Officer (1949-1979). Veteran US Army-Air Force, serving in WWII and later the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Since retirement, he has been on numerous trips to the Carribean on many many cruises. Al was an avid dancer, and he will miss his Thursday nights dancing at the 94th Aero Squadron. He was also a longtime and proud member of Hickory Hills Golf Club. Preceded in death by: Wife: Libby Schilling. Mother: Hilda Schilling. Son in law: Dan Moore. Survived by: Children: Allen E. (Marianne) Schilling and Gretchen Moore. Grandchildren: Andy (Melissa) Schilling, Brian (Amy) Schilling and Grace Moore. Great granddaughter: Addison Schilling. Special niece: Connie (Ned) Martin. Numerous other family and friends. The family would also like to thank the staff at Mt Carmel Hospice for their care. Friends may call at Jerry Spears Funeral Home, 2693 W. Broad St., Thursday, 4-7 PM where service will be held 10:00 AM Friday, Dr. T. Ronald Sams officiating. Interment Sunset Cemetery.
